Inland Valley Repertory Theatre (IVRT) Welcomes Interns Funded by the LA County Arts Internship Program

LA VERNE, CA – Inland Valley Repertory Theatre Company (IVRT) is pleased to welcome local college students, Maddy Hughes and Tedy Setlak, to their 400-hour, paid summer internship program. Made possible by a grant from Los Angeles County, applicants for the internships in Educational Outreach and Social Media/Marketing needed to either live in, or attend college in, L.A. County. Established in 2000 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the LA County Arts Internship Program supports and strengthens the cultural sector of LA County by providing access to high quality opportunities for college students of all backgrounds to gain experience, understanding, and transferable skills relevant to careers in the arts, the creative economy, and engagement in public life. Students develop a deeper understanding of the work involved in nonprofit arts administration, better understand the role of the arts in communities, and develop skills that can be put to use in their future careers.

Maddy Hughes, a resident of Claremont and current theatre major at Citrus College, is the recipient of the Educational Outreach grant. Maddy has been involved with IVRT for the last six years, starting as a Camp IVRT attendee and then moving on to volunteering as a high school teaching assistant at the musical theatre workshop for youth. Maddy is also currently serving as a student representative on IVRT’s board of directors. As IVRT’s Educational Outreach Intern, Maddy’s duties include supporting the creative team of teaching artists, training and supervising high school teaching assistants, and collaborating with the creative staff to plan activities and performances.

Tedy Setlak is IVRT’s 2025 Social Media/Marketing Intern. Tedy is a resident of Chino Hills and is majoring in theatre at Cal Poly Pomona, with an emphasis on acting. This summer Tedy will focus on expanding IVRT’s social media presence, using platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to promote IVRT’s summer musical, Disney’s Newsies, reader’s theatre productions of Dear Jack, Dear Louise and Glengarry Glen Ross, and IVRT’s educational outreach programs, working directly with IVRT’s marketing team, board members, and volunteers. Tedy is also translating the script of Newsies into American Sign Language and will be signing IVRT’s performances of Newsies at the University of La Verne.
