About Us

Uncommon Good’s mission is to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty through innovative programs in education, health, and urban farming.

Educational Initiatives:
Uncommon Good supports under-resourced children by providing mentor, tutoring, and college access programming aimed at helping them succeed academically and pursue higher education.

Health Programs:
The MED program supports young healthcare professionals who choose to serve in under-resourced Southern California communities. By offering educational loan repayment grants, we help make careers in community clinics more financially sustainable.

Urban Farming:
Through its urban agriculture program, Uncommon Good grows and gleans fruits and vegetables that are distributed to local families in need of food assistance. Additionally, we have a dry-goods pantry that supplements the produce provided to local families.

Leadership Transition:
In December 2024, founder and executive director Nancy Mintie retired after 24 years of service. Randy Lopez, formerly the CEO of the Claremont Chamber of Commerce, has been appointed as the new executive director.

Community Engagement:
Uncommon Good offers volunteer opportunities for individuals interested in mentoring and tutoring students from low-income families.

Uncommon Good's commitment to empowering families through education, health, and sustainable agriculture continues to make a significant impact in the Claremont community and beyond.
