Reclaimed & Beyond
Stories of Survival, Transformation, and Emotional Alchemy
This show is a continuation and expansion of my previous exhibition, Reclaimed, and explores the transformative power of creativity in the face of trauma. It features paintings created throughout and beyond my battle with triple-negative breast cancer, many of which are inspired by my actual medical imaging, emotions, and the healing process.
Through this deeply personal collection, I use my art to process fear, reclaim femininity, and transform pain into visual storytelling — what I call emotional alchemy. The show moves beyond survival, diving into emotional dualities: devastation and resilience, grief and humor, pathology and beauty. It’s for anyone who has found themselves reshaped by hardship — and anyone who believes in the power of creative transformation.

Artist Biography
Ashley Misner (b. 1986) is a modern contemporary illustrative painter currently residing in Claremont, CA. Her landscape paintings capture a whimsical mood through the use of bold colors and imaginative subject matter. She enjoys working with a range of styles that include clean line-style illustrations, colorful expressionism, and a bit of surrealism.
Ashley finds inspiration through music, her past, personifying just about anything, and working in galleries with other like-minded individuals. Her professional career as a fine artist began at an early age with the sale of her first painting, leading her to a solo art exhibition with Azo Gallery in Covina at the age of 19.
Ashley has been selling paintings as well as fine art giclées consistently since that time. She began actively pursuing a place in the professional art world by coordinating several galleries in the Claremont Packing House and completing an internship at ADC Contemporary Building Bridges Art Exchange in Santa Monica. This experience allowed Ashley to find a new voice to talk about her art with passion.
Ashley’s paintings have been available for purchase in numerous galleries including Studio 19 Fine Art, located in Florida. She has been able to connect with collectors across continents, study law, and participate in local and regional art events in California. Currently, she plans to continue showing her art, be a mom, and work on next year’s project painting other women’s pathology. She hopes to one day open a gallery that will revolutionize the way galleries do business. In the future, she plans to expand this project by painting pathology images for other women with the help of City of Hope, sharing their stories and journeys.
